Be sure to check out the partial lunar eclipse coming up on November 19th!
It is technically partial, yes, but it is going to be about as close to a total as you can get. Only a sliver of moon will be uncovered by the umbra portion (darkest part) of the earth's shadow.
Many people, where the skies are clear, will likely be able to see the eclipse in progress while they are getting ready to head to work, or perhaps even on the road - at least in the eastern half of the country. I hope to catch it on my morning walk, if it's clear here in the midwest.
I've often wondered what these interesting events mean from a biblical perspective - scripture does mention things like "the moon turning to blood", which definitely seems to refer to a lunar eclipse. In other ancient cultures they have been considered ill omens. But these are celestial events that happen quite regularly- often multiple times in a calendar year. I would be interested to hear other's thoughts about them, and perhaps where they fit in the biblical understanding of creation.
